CURRICULUM
Key Stage 5
The 16-19 pathway focuses on embedding key skills and broadening contexts. Curriculum continues to follow their pathway and within that pupils are given opportunities to complete formal qualifications appropriate to individual needs and stages of development.
Qualifications include:
- Bespoke AQA qualifications,
- Entry level GCSES,
- Formal GCSES.
(These are all dependent on individual pupils and the curriculum offer is adapted to suit the needs of individual pupils).
At this stage pupils have increasing ownership over their learning and experiences, following special interests. There is a breadth of community experiences, including travel training and residential opportunities. There are regular work experience opportunities and continued links with Careers Wales.
The 16-19 Pathway aims to prepare pupils to be as independent as possible for life at YBD and beyond.
